Okay. I think I’m finally ready to make a run at restarting my review project and, with it, this blog. (The blog really is integral to the review. I would find it isolating to do math without a way to communicate about it.)
I’m going to make some changes, though. While I acknowledge the value of daily practices, the way I had set things up clashed with how volatile both my emotional state and my cognitive capabilities can be. It was not sustainable. (That’s clear from the bare fact that I couldn’t sustain it, but the system was failing for quite a while before I quit blogging near the end of 2024.) So I’m not going to post every day. I’m not even going to post every day I do math. My goal will remain to do something at least math-related daily (recognizing that it may not always be possible), but posts will be less frequent. I have ideas about how often I will post relative to how much math I do, but I’m going to keep them to myself for now. You’ll see me when you see me, so to speak.
There will probably also be a shift away from systematic review and textbook exercises, toward exploration and puzzles. I’ll still do some of the former. The grammar is important in any subject. Trying to get math tutoring work is no longer a nearterm goal, however, so my priorities are different. I’ve also recently found that reviewing them when you have a particular use you want to put them to can be a good way to reactivate skills.
Stay tuned, faithful readers. I hope to post again next week.
